Dew point is the reason to buy it

A hygrometer tells you how much water is in the air. Dew point tells you at what temperature that water will condense — on a window, in a wall, inside a humidor.

Of the nine devices on this shelf, two publish dew point and this is the one that shows it live alongside the humidity and the temperature.

And accuracy is the reason to ask first

Nine bullets, and the nine include saunas, museums and food distribution. None of them includes a tolerance.

That is the pattern across this whole shelf: the four devices that state how accurate they are all cost under twenty-two dollars, and both professional instruments here state nothing.

The questions that keep coming up

What is wet bulb for?

It is the temperature air reaches when cooled by evaporation, and it is the figure HVAC calculations use. Dew point tells you when condensation will form. This is the only instrument on this shelf that shows either, and it shows both.

How accurate is it?

The listing does not say. On a psychrometer sold for lab monitoring and museum work, that is the figure the buyer needs, and it is absent. Four household devices on this shelf publish tolerances; this one does not.

Is it better than the cheap hygrometers here?

For dew point, Max/Min/Avg and a probe, yes — no household device here does any of it. For knowing how close the humidity reading is, no: a seven-dollar DOQAUS on this shelf publishes ±5% RH and this publishes nothing.
