Best documented instrument on the shelf

Four devices here publish an accuracy. This is the tightest of the four, and it also publishes a sample rate, an ingress rating, a weight and a battery life.

Both professional instruments on this shelf, at six and ten times the price, publish no accuracy at all. That is not a claim that this is the better instrument — it is a statement about which listing lets you judge.

The history is the other half

Twenty days of curves and two years of data to export. Every other device here shows you now and forgets it.

For damp, that is the difference between a number and a pattern: a bathroom at 70 per cent after a shower is normal, and a cellar at 70 per cent all winter is not.

The questions that keep coming up

Is ±0.54 °F meaningful?

It is the tightest figure on this shelf, and tighter than the seven-dollar DOQAUS at ±1 °F and the TempPro at ±2 °F. More importantly it exists: the two German analog instruments here and both professional meters publish nothing.

Do I need the app?

For the thresholds, the alerts and the twenty-day curves, yes. For reading the temperature and humidity, no — the LCD works standalone with a comfort indicator. It is the only device on this shelf that offers both modes.

Can I leave it outside?

IP65 covers rain, dust and sun, and the listing is explicit that it must not be immersed. No other device on this shelf publishes any ingress rating, and the two TFA instruments say indoors only.
