GoveeLife H5106101 review

Measures PM2.5, temperature and humidity with published tolerances, mains powered, with two years of exportable data.

Where this leaves you The only monitor on this shelf that publishes a PM2.5 tolerance — ±15 µg/m³ — and that figure is the most useful number here, because it tells you how little a reading of 10 means. It measures three things, needs mains power and keeps two years of data.

What the maker puts in writing

  • 3 parameters: PM2.5, temperature, humidity
  • PM2.5 ±15 µg/m³ · temperature ±0.54 °F · humidity ±3% RH
  • 2-second refresh · LED with 4 air quality levels
  • Mains only, no battery · Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, 2.4 GHz needed for the clock
  • 13-day graphs, 2 years of free data export · triggers named Govee appliances

The most useful number on this shelf

the PM2.5 accuracy is ±15 µg/m³.

Fifteen micrograms either way. At the levels a clean home sits at, that is a band wider than the reading itself.

This is not a criticism of this monitor in particular — it is the only one on the shelf that tells you. The other five publish no PM2.5 tolerance at all, and a cheap optical particle sensor is a cheap optical particle sensor whoever sells it.

Three sensors, and a reason

Every other monitor here counts upwards: seven parameters, eight, nine, sixteen on the box. This one measures three and spends the rest of its listing on what it does with them — graphs, exports, and switching on a purifier when the air gets worse.

That is a different product in the same category, and the choice between them is not about the count.

The good and the less good

Strengths

  • The only monitor on this shelf that publishes a PM2.5 tolerance, which lets you judge what a reading is worth
  • Thirteen-day graphs and two years of exportable data, free — no other monitor here stores anything
  • Triggers named Govee purifiers, humidifiers and fans automatically, with the compatible model numbers listed

Compromises

  • Measures three parameters where the rest of this shelf measures seven to nine — no CO2, no TVOC, no HCHO
  • ±15 µg/m³ is a wide tolerance: at household particulate levels the reading is indicative rather than precise
  • No battery at all, and the clock needs 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi

The questions that keep coming up

What does ±15 µg/m³ actually mean?

That a displayed PM2.5 of 10 could be anywhere from 0 to 25. That is a wide band at the levels most homes sit at, and it is worth knowing — but it is also the only PM2.5 tolerance published anywhere on this shelf. The other five monitors do not tell you, which is not the same as being better.

Why so few parameters?

Three: PM2.5, temperature and humidity. This is a sensor built to drive other appliances rather than to survey the air. If you want CO2, formaldehyde or TVOC, every other monitor on this shelf claims them.

Can I see the history?

Yes, and it is the only one here that offers it: thirteen-day graphs online and two years of data to export, free. Every other monitor on this shelf shows the present reading and forgets it.
