  • Works straight out of the package with no programming, which the seller contrasts directly with universal remotes
  • No feature bullets at all: everything is in a numbered description, including the compatibility rule

Best for: A Frigidaire air conditioner whose original remote has died, where the old handset is still to hand for comparison

What the maker puts in writing

  • Third generation, replacing the first-generation remotes illustrated
  • Over 22 remote control codes already loaded
  • Works without programming, once batteries are in
  • NOT a universal Frigidaire remote — stated twice

Twenty-two codes, no setup

That is an unusual middle ground, and it is the right one for this category: not a universal remote hunting for a code, and not a single part number that has to match exactly.

One handset, twenty-two Frigidaire codes, nothing to program.

And Frigidaire has no fallback here

The universal remote on this shelf lists Frigidaire among the brands it does not support, alongside Mitsubishi, Sanyo and one Sharp model. It also excludes window and portable air conditioners entirely.

For a Frigidaire owner, that narrows nine products to this one.

The questions that keep coming up

How do I know it will work?

The seller’s test is visual: if your old remote looks like the first-generation handsets in the right-hand image, this third-generation remote carries its code. That is less precise than a part number, and it is also why twenty-two codes are loaded — the remote is designed to cover the whole look-alike family.

Is it universal?

No, and the listing says so twice in capitals. A universal remote searches for a code and may not find one; this one already holds twenty-two Frigidaire codes and needs no setup.

Could I use the cheap universal remote instead?

Not for a Frigidaire. The universal remote on this shelf names Frigidaire among four brands it does not support, and separately rules out window and portable machines. For a Frigidaire, this shelf has one real answer.

    Westinghouse 78095

Westinghouse's 78095 is an infrared replacement remote built for the company's own ceiling fans with a light kit, stated by Westinghouse to fit most of its ceiling fans, with exceptions listed in each fan's own specifications. It controls three fan speeds plus off, and separately turns the light on and off with a dimmer, and comes with a wall-mount bracket and screws.

    • Made and branded by the fan manufacturer itself, with a stated fit against Westinghouse's own ceiling fan range rather than a code list to search or enter
    • Brand-locked to Westinghouse — none of the ceiling fans reviewed on this site (Briloner 3963016, MiKoMiKa F8808, EXTRASTAR IT-OMFSD-2003, ROTTOGOON CF1501) are made by Westinghouse, so this remote is not a fit for any of them

Best for: A Westinghouse ceiling fan with a lost or damaged remote — Westinghouse states most of its models are covered, with exceptions listed per fan. It is not a fit for the Briloner, MiKoMiKa, EXTRASTAR or ROTTOGOON fans reviewed on this site.

    • A printed code list Metronic states covers roughly 100 brands, plus an automatic-search setup mode, against the shorter set of named brands the Hama remote in this hub ships pre-programmed for
    • 5 operating modes (auto, cold, warm, dehumidify, fan) plus a programmable on/off timer and dedicated quick-cool/quick-heat buttons
    • None of the roughly 100 brands Metronic names in its own listing match the portable air conditioners reviewed on this site (Dreo, Gymax, Okyuk, Temprium); a universal remote's success still depends on the exact model being on the code list, which we can't confirm without the printed sheet in hand

Best for: An air conditioner from one of the roughly 100 brands on Metronic's own code list — a wider net than the Hama remote in this hub, which is pre-programmed for a shorter set of named brands only.
