How do I know if mine is an R51?

The code is printed on the back of the original remote, usually near the battery compartment. R51 handsets were supplied with a very wide range of machines, which is why this remote lists six variants of it — but the code on your handset is the only reliable check.

Is it the same as the 1000-in-1 universal remote here?

No. That one searches a code database and excludes window and portable air conditioners and four named brands. This one is a direct replacement for one remote family and needs no code search at all.

What is the range?
