DREO DR-HCF001 Black review

A 52-inch brushless DC ceiling fan at 6,000 CFM and 22 decibels, with twelve speeds and stepless dimming.

Where this leaves you Six thousand CFM and 22 decibels, both published, on a 52-inch brushless DC fan with twelve speeds. The two figures that matter on a ceiling fan, and only DREO prints either of them on this shelf.

What the maker puts in writing

  • 52 in · up to 6,000 CFM · minimum 22 dB
  • Brushless DC motor, 14° blade angle
  • 12 speeds, 3 modes: Natural, Normal, Sleep
  • Stepless 1–100% dimming, 2700–6500 K
  • Reversible at one touch · app, Alexa, Google Home

The two numbers that decide a ceiling fan

How much air it moves, and how loud it is while doing it. CFM and decibels.

On this shelf, two fans publish both and they are the two DREOs. The other three ceiling fans here publish neither — one gives a room size, one gives a percentage improvement over its own smaller model, and one says “large air volume”.

What is not here

A warranty. The Westinghouse on this shelf publishes fifteen years on the motor and the addlon ten, and neither of them publishes a single performance figure.

That is the trade this shelf offers: numbers now, or cover later.

The good and the less good

Strengths

  • The highest published airflow on this shelf at 6,000 CFM, and the lowest published noise at 22 dB
  • Twelve speeds and three wind modes, against five or six on every other ceiling fan here
  • Stepless dimming from one per cent and a full 2700–6500 K color range, both published

Compromises

  • No warranty published, where two ceiling fans on this shelf give ten and fifteen years on the motor
  • "As bright as a 24 W light bulb" is not a lumen figure, and its own 42-inch stablemate publishes 2,400 lm
  • Twelve speeds and three modes need the app; the remote alone gives fewer

The questions that keep coming up

Is 6,000 CFM a lot?

It is the highest figure on this shelf, and nearly double the 3,400 CFM peak its own 42-inch stablemate publishes. The three other ceiling fans here publish no CFM at all, so there is nothing further to compare it against.

How bright is "as bright as a 24 W light bulb"?

Unclear, and this page will not guess. A 24-watt LED and a 24-watt incandescent differ by roughly a factor of ten in output. The DREO 42-inch on this shelf publishes 2,400 lumens, which is a real figure; this listing does not.

What does reversing the fan do in winter?

Pushes air upward, so the warm air collected at the ceiling is moved down the walls rather than blown onto you. Four fans on this shelf are reversible; the Westinghouse is not.

Amazon reports what buyers took in the month before this page was last checked: at least 500.
