  • The only thermostat on this shelf that publishes both its compatible and its incompatible system lists
  • Publishes ±1 °F accuracy and both temperature ranges, at the joint-lowest price on this shelf for a wall thermostat
  • Non-programmable: no schedule, no app, no voice control

Best for: A single-stage furnace or boiler where the thermostat should just hold a temperature, in a wall with no common wire

What the maker puts in writing

  • Single stage, 1 heat / 1 cool · compatible AND incompatible lists published
  • 24 V AC or 2 AA cells; C-wire only on heat-only or cool-only systems
  • ±1 °F · display 41–95 °F · control 44–90 °F
  • Separate heating and cooling swing · installs in 30 minutes, 2 to 5 wires
  • 2-year warranty, 30-day return

Both lists, which is rare

Most thermostat listings tell you what they fit. Two on this shelf tell you what they do not. One tells you both, and that one is this.

Gas fireplace at 24 volts is in the compatible list; electric baseboard at 120 to 240 volts is in the incompatible one. Those are the two edges people get wrong.

A degree, for twenty-seven dollars

Plus or minus one degree Fahrenheit, published. The same brand’s Wi-Fi thermostat on this shelf publishes two degrees at nearly twice the price.

If the job is holding a room at a temperature rather than scheduling it from a phone, the cheap end of this shelf is also the accurate end.

The questions that keep coming up

Does it need a C-wire?

Only on heat-only and cool-only systems. On a conventional heat-and-cool system it runs on 24 V from the system or on two AA cells. Four thermostats on this shelf require a C-wire outright.

How is it different from the Suuwer at the same price?

The figures are the same — ±1 °F, 41 to 95 °F display, 44 to 90 °F control, two-year warranty, the same 2-to-5-wire caution. This one lists compatible systems as well as incompatible ones and takes AA cells; the Suuwer publishes a swing range of 0.2 to 2 °F and a selectable 5-minute compressor delay, and takes AAA. They read like the same hardware documented two different ways.

What is a swing or cycle rate?

How far the room is allowed to drift before the system restarts. A wide swing cycles less and feels less even; a narrow one is the reverse. This listing offers separate heating and cooling swings without a range; the Suuwer publishes 0.2 to 2 °F.
