The honest filter, and the optimistic area

The filter claim here is the most careful on the shelf: a G4 cotton medium, 90 per cent of dust, dander and hair, and no mention of HEPA. That is what it is.

The coverage claim is the least careful. Three hundred and fifty milliliters a day is a third of what the strongest units here remove, and this listing claims more floor area than any of them except one.

The one figure nobody else gives

Two thousand five hundred cubic feet.

Humidity fills a volume, not a floor, and a 260-square-foot room with a high ceiling holds far more moisture than one with a low one. This is the only listing on this shelf to publish the volume as well as the area.

Availability

Catalogued and unsold: the American Amazon shop lists the reference with nobody behind it.

The questions that keep coming up

Can 350 ml a day cover 260 square feet?

The arithmetic is hard to defend. The Tenergy on this shelf removes 750 ml and claims 200 square feet; this one removes 350 and claims 260. Both cannot be right. Treat this as a unit for a very small or very mildly damp space — a wardrobe, a shower room — regardless of the figure.

What is a G4 filter?

A coarse filter class, for dust and hair. The listing is accurate about what it does — 90 per cent of dust, dander and hair, reusable and washable — and it is not HEPA. Two units on this shelf claim HEPA, one of them at the standard 99.97 per cent.

What do negative ions do?

The listing says the unit releases high-efficiency negative ions while dehumidifying, and gives no figure or effect. It is the only such claim on this shelf, and there is nothing published here to test it against.
