What the maker puts in writing

  • 4 plugs · 15 A / 1,800 W · 1.2 in thick
  • Smart Life app, Bluetooth setup, no hub
  • Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings
  • Schedules, countdown timers, routines, group control
  • FCC and ETL certified · 2.4 GHz only

Five and a half dollars a socket

That is the lowest figure on this shelf, and it comes with the rating that matters: fifteen amps, eighteen hundred watts, enough for the heaters and air conditioners this site is about.

Two plugs here cost more per socket and publish no amperage whatsoever.

The exclamation mark

Note: 2.4GHz WiFi Only!

Six plugs on this shelf carry some version of that warning, several in capitals. It is the category’s standing problem, and this maker’s own ET05 is the only product here that fixes it.

The questions that keep coming up

Will it run my space heater?

Fifteen amps and 1,800 watts, published, and the listing names heaters explicitly. A 1,500 W heater draws about 12.5 amps. The two cheapest single plugs on this shelf publish no rating at all, and that is the figure to check before plugging in anything that heats.

Is 2.4 GHz a problem?

Only during setup, and only on a router that merges both bands under one name — which is most modern routers. If that has caught you before, the same maker’s ET05 on this shelf is the dual-band answer at roughly double the price per plug.

What does SmartThings add?

A third ecosystem, so the plugs can be driven from a Samsung hub as well as from Alexa or Google. Three plugs on this shelf name SmartThings; this is the cheapest of them.
